UPDATE:
We’re now told everyone in the Brit conservatorship is on board to end the whole deal on October 28.
In court today, the judge extended the conservatorship until the end of the year, but set a hearing on October 28. We’re told daddy Jamie is following the lead of the doctors, who are saying they think the 28th is a reasonable time to end the conservatorship. Brit is cool with that as well, though the judge said she agreed … “reluctantly.”
We’re told between now and October 28, the goal is to gradually ween Brit off being managed so tightly so she can get back to life.

The court hearing has ended and Britney Spears is still officially under the control of daddy Jamie.
The court has extended the conservatorship through December 31. There’s a status hearing on October 28, just in time for Halloween! The judge is leaving the option open to end the conservatorship early.
As far as anyone is aware, Barack Obama has never exposed his genitals to the paparazzi, shaved his head to defy his mother, made a sex video, or been admitted to a psychiatric ward.
If you believe John McCain, however, it’s probably only a matter of time.
In perhaps one of the most bizarre election campaign ads of recent history, the 71-year-old Republican presidential candidate compares Obama’s global celebrity to that of Hollywood’s most notorious starlets: Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
The message? ‘Obamania’ is just a passing media fad—and Obama himself just a fame-hungry diva, more interested in his close-up than, say, the policy details of drilling for oil on America’s Outer Continental Shelf. Read more… »
Jamie Lynn Spears’ status as an unwed mother is soon coming to an end. The Nickelodeon star and her fiance Casey Aldridge have begun to plan their wedding.
OK! magazine reports that the nuptials will take place this fall at Spears’ new home in Liberty, Miss.
Don’t expect any last-minute change of venue - Spears, 17, is more Jamie from the block than Hollywood glam.
Britney Spears’s father will likely remain in control of the singer’s affairs following a court review Thursday, an expert says.
“I would be very surprised if the court ends her father’s control so soon,” says Terry K. Wasserman, a mental health attorney not involved in her case. “It’s rare for someone to regain their capacity in just 60 days.”
Two months ago, Spears’s attorney Samuel Ingham testified that the pop star was unfit to take part in legal proceedings. “In fact, they could be harmful to her,” Ingham said.
Jamie Spears, 56, was named temporary conservator of her affairs on Feb. 1 following his 26-year-old daughter’s two forced hospitalizations in January.
He has sole authority over whom she has contact with, and has hired security guards to watch her 24 hours a day. Her father also shares control with another lawyer over her multimillion-dollar estate.
Conservatorships can last anywhere from several months up to a person’s lifetime.
“Britney can only regain control of her life if she proves to the court – backed by medical experts – that she’s regained her health,” Wasserman says.
Thursday’s hearing will also determine whether a restraining order will be renewed against the singer’s former pal Sam Lutfi.
Last week, Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline, 30, ended their custody battle, reaching a settlement in which Federline retains sole custody of sons Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2, with visits by Spears.
An X17 source close to Britney’s camp tells X17online exclusively that Jamie Spears’ conservatorship over his daughter’s estate could end tomorrow, a day ahead of a scheduled hearing in which the matter is to be reviewed.
Jamie Spears was named temporary co-conservator (along with attorney Andrew Wallet) of his daughter back on February 1st of this year.
Since then, her conservators have been in charge of everything from Britney’s legal affairs (including her custody battle with ex, Kevin Federline, which was recently resolved with her giving Federline full custody), as well as her medical affairs.
A hearing regarding Spears’ conservatorship is on the books for July 31st (this Thursday), but we’re not sure if this new development will change the need for the hearing.
Britney is currently on vacation in Mexico. We’re not sure when she’s due back, but it was expected that she would return by tomorrow, a day ahead of the hearing.

Tune in on Sunday, September 7th, 2008 at 8pm for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards to see if Britney will finally pick up her first little moonman that she has deserved oh so much over the years.
Britney Spears is asking Keri Hilson to give her more hits.
The R&B star, who penned “Gimme More” for Britney has reunited with her to work on the 26-year-old’s upcoming album, a process she dubs “refreshing.”
“I got to step outside of what I normally do,” Keri tells Rap-Up TV. “I’m not normally this huge pop writer…and Britney, she’s special. I can’t say that she’s guarded, but I understand why she doesn’t want to talk about certain things and I respect that about her.”
What’s important to know about the Britster is that she is not a “puppet” strung along and directed by label higher-ups, Keri says.
“She really isn’t the puppet that people make her out to be,” she adds. “She has an opinion and she’s a very, very bright girl.”
In the studio, the hitmaking duo has never run into any problems as Britney is “a pleasure to work with.” You won’t find any diva behavior in there!
“[She] never mouth[s] off,” the 25-year-old says. “She’s a very, very sweet person, takes direction very well.”
Keri, who’s putting the finishing touches on her own album, In a Perfect World, also has some words for her colleague’s critics.
“Right now she’s dealing with life,” she says. “She’s just dealing with life. Leave that girl alone.”
