It’s still a week early for the MTV Video Music Awards. But Britney Spears, who is up for three awards – including top honors – has a supporter in the form of hip-hop heavyweight Pharrell Williams.
“She’s made her mark with her career,” Williams told PEOPLE at Wednesday’s Pepsi 500 Running Wide Open party in Hollywood, which he co-hosted. “She’s super-talented. She’s an entertainer.”
Williams, 35, collaborated with Spears on her hits “I’m a Slave 4 U” and “Boys.”
“It was cool, it was fun,” said Williams, who is currently working on new music with Common and Fall Out Boy.
Besides video of the year, Spears’s nominations include best pop video and best female video. She has never won a MTV Video Music Award, despite 16 nominations in her career.
While Williams is rooting for Spears, her musical success does not hinge on success at the awards show, he says.
“I’m not sure [if she will win],” Williams said. “I don’t even know if it really matters whether she wins or not.”
Spears’s live MTV VMA performance of “Gimme More” last year was a notorious disaster. This year, Spears has appeared in taped VMA commercial segments with host Russell Brand, but is not scheduled to perform.
She competes with the Jonas Brothers, Chris Brown, the Pussycat Dolls and the Ting Tings, for video of the year.
This is the ORIGINAL demo of Radar. The one that leaked last year with the other demos IS NOT the demo. It was just an unmastered mix.
This version features vocals by Candice Nelson who provides the background vocals on the album track and is produced by The Clutch (who produced Britney’s obviously).
Jenna and I, along with our layout designer Jay, have opened a brand new fan site for Miss Mandy Moore. We got the opportunity to adopt the site when the previous owner decided to abandon it and leave it in a state of ruins. So we’ve revamped the entire site with a brand new bangin’ layout and all new & updated content. Includes everything from lyrics, videography, biography and more.
Apparently, Larry Rudolph emailed Ryan Seacrest and confirmed to him that Britney will not be performing at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I am telling you officially and unequivocally that BS will not be there,” Rudolph wrote in his email.
I just added 25 pics from Madonna’s concert in Cardiff, of Britney on the screens during the Human Nature segment. Some are UHQ, a few are MQ, and a few are tagged. I’ll keep updating as more pics/better quality/untagged come in.
“I’m the healthiest I’ve been all my life,” Britney says.
- “My diet has a lot to do with my getting into shape,” Britney says. “I have no sugar. I don’t eat fruit or even fruit juice because of the sugar. I eat chicken and salmon and rice. I eat avocados. I’ll have egg whites for breakfast and sometimes turkey burgers for lunch. I try to do just 1,200 calories a day. It may sound like it’s not much, but it’s actually a lot of food if you eat the right things.”
- “Frappuccinos - gone,” she laughs. “I do still drink coffee, but just with Equal.”
- Her regular routine, she says, is “a lot of cardio and weights.” She works out five days a week, taking the weekends off, often training at an outside gym and sometimes at the fully-equipped gym in her house.
-”I was working with male trainers and recently switched to a woman because she knew how to lean me out better,” Britney explains, saying that she didn’t want to become too bulky from her training routines. She may change back to a male trainer later, once she gets to be as “cut” as she wants.
I just added 28 UHQ candids of Britney leaving Foresight Studios. Rumor has it that she was rehearsing for the VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS. Let’s all wait and see.
A year after she bombed onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears snagged three nominations for this year’s show, including the coveted Video of the Year prize.
Thanks to thousands of fans’ votes, her video for “Piece of Me” will also vie for Best Female and Best Pop Video honors - giving her 16 nominations over her career.
Such kudos were unimaginable a year ago, when Spears’ attempt at a comeback during the awards show backfired miserably.
Her sloppy, lip-synched performance of “Gimme More” was universally panned and ushered in a year of lousy luck for the pop icon, including a failed child custody battle and a stint in rehab.
“Britney Spears made last year’s MTV Video Music Awards a memorable one with her performance of ‘Gimme More’ - albeit in ways she may not have intended,” MTV wrote on its Web site yesterday. “But on Sept. 7, Spears will get a chance at VMA glory.”
It’s unclear whether the pop princess will make an encore performance at the 25th annual show, giving her a chance at redemption.
The only confirmed performers are Jonas Brothers, Lil’ Wayne and Kid Rock, but a spokeswoman for the network said earlier this week that Spears is in negotiations to take the stage again. Read more… »
