Britney Spears’s father, Jamie, has been named permanent conservator of his daughter’s affairs, a Los Angeles court ruled on Tuesday. He was also named permanent co-conservator of her estate, along with an attorney, Andrew Wallet.
“I’ve met several times with [Britney] and she requested that I not object to the permanent conservatorship,” the singer’s court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham said in open court.
Commissioner Reva Goetz stated that the permanent conservatorship was “necessary and appropriate.”
Experts say, however, that the permanent status doesn’t necessarily mean forever.
“People shouldn’t read too much into the word ‘permanent’” explains Terry K. Wasserman, a mental health lawyer not involved with this case. “In many cases, it’s just a formality to avoid having to renew a temporary status over and over again.”
A source close to Spears concurs, saying, “This is by no means something that’s going to last forever. The conservatorship being made permanent in name is primarily to ensure increased time with her children, and provide support for her music and work goals.”
Adds Wasserman: “Ms. Spears can regain control of her life anytime – as long as her doctors feel she’s able to manage her own affairs.”
Britney Spears may be comebacking like a mad woman, but the court thinks that she can still use some guidance on that road to redemption.
The popster’s conservatorship arrangement with father Jamie Spears was made permanent today, with no objection coming from the 26-year-old pop star. If the terms of the deal remain the same, her dad will continue to oversee her estate, finances, legal affairs and medical care along with attorney Andrew Wallet.
“The court finds the proposed permanent conservatorship is necessary and appropriate,” said Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz, who has been presiding over the Spears saga for the past year, at a Tuesday status hearing.
And while Britney was no fan of the arrangement back when it was imposed Feb. 1, her attorney informed the court today that his client had requested he not argue with Goetz’s ruling.
In the meantime, a 730 evaluation detailing Spears’ psychological fortitude has been completed and will remain sealed, Goetz said. Another status hearing has been set for Dec. 22.
It’s only appropriate that Britney rehearses in front of a mirror - reflecting back upon her her 10 successful years in the industry. Last Thursday marked the ten year anniversary of “Baby One More Time,” Britney’s first single released on October 23, 1998. Enjoy the classic, because this time around Britney is trading in her signature pigtails for something a little more… adult.
According to an insider at the International Dance Studio, the dance complex Britney has spent several weeks in rehearsing for her upcoming performances and world tour, Britney is practicing a dance routine for a new version of “Baby One More Time.”
The insider reveals exclusively to BreatheHeavy.com that Britney has once again teamed up with pop-music writing mastermind Max Martin (”Baby One More Time,” “Oops!.. I Did It Again) for the new track, and has re-recorded her vocals with an urban twist, but still “keeping the same feel to it.” The newly amped up “Baby One More Time” song, renamed to “One More Time,” is a 10th anniversary mix.
“[The song] is for an upcoming concert performance to promote her new album,” says the source. “It is likely that this could be a bonus track on her upcoming CD.”
“The track sounds hot,” the IDA insider continued. “A lot more mature than the original, and very modern.”
“Womanizer,” Britney’s new single off Circus, marks her second #1 off the Billboard Hot 100, an astounding ten years after “Baby One More Time” was certified in the top spot.
This morning BRITannica, over at Britney.com, made a celebratory post to mark Britney’s 10 years on the scene. In her post she name dropped BMK, stating that we changed our layout in honor of today and that it’s “really cool”.

Well as expected Britney dropped out of the #1 spot to a shocking #4. I think the one day that it wasn’t on iTunes is what hurt it the most. She lost approximately 25,000 (give or take a few thousand) in sales from that one day alone, she probably would have been able to take the #3 or maybe even #2 spot with that. Oh well the song is still going strong on both radio and digitial. It topped the Billboard Hot Digital Tracks again, for the 2nd week in a row. Hopefully she can hang on to the Top 10 for a few weeks. I think she can do it, she is Britney after all. She is still #1 on iTunes, but Beyonce is close behind at #2. Hopefully Britney can fend her off for at least the rest of the day, maybe even until tomorrow.
Still congrats Britney on having such a successful song.
Uploaded scans from the “Womanizer” promo CD single and a HQ untagged promo pic from the Circus photoshoot (used on the alternate “Womanizer” cover). Several days ago I also uploaded several shoots into the gallery and updated a few with higher quality photos. They range from 2004 to 2008. More photos and shoots will be added to the gallery in the coming weeks.
